Instant Pot Safety Tips

Don’t leave your instant pot unattended

Do not leave your instant pot at home when cooking. If you need to leave it alone, make sure to set your valve into sealing and there is no steam coming out anywhere.

Check the liquid content of your instant pot

Instant pot needs a cup of liquid like juice, broth, vinegar or water to maintain the pressure. If your instant pot does not have enough liquid, it will now generate enough steam. But if there is too much liquid, it will increase the cooking time and your food will get overcooked.

Don’t force the lid of your instant pot

Don’t force your instant pot to open the lid to prevent burns. Make sure that the pressure is fully released before you open the lid.

Don’t overfill your instant pot

Do not cook too much food in your instant pot that will expand during cooking like rice, pasta, oats and beans. Instant pot must only cook two-thirds full to avoid overfilling.

Stay away from steam

The safest way to open the lid of your instant pot is to slowly tilt it away from you. Wear heat resistant silicone gloves where doing a quick release to avoid burns.

Check and wash the lid regularly

Wash the lid of your instant pot regularly; clean the anti-block shield and the inner pot after using. Make sure that there is no food residue stuck inside the anti-block shield of your instant pot. Check the silicone sealing ring before using; it must be in a good shape. Avoid using silicone sealing ring with cracks or damaged.
