This book contains everyday recipes cooked in Havyaka homes. These recipes are structured so that anyone can cook them flawlessly and enjoy a whiff of our kitchen.

About Havyakas:

Havyaka Brahmins are the Hindu Pancha Dravida Vedic Brahmins from Karnataka.

Havyaka population grew and spread across Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamangaloor, Kodagu, Bengaluru districts and Kasaragod as well. They cultivated fine art – Yakshagana folk theatre has been exclusively developed by Havyakas!

Each and every dish of Havyaka kitchen is very different in taste and texture. We use Jaggery and coconut oil in almost all the recipes. From deep frying to tadka, coconut oil is preferred.

In all my recipes, I have mentioned low spice level, as we prefer very less spice in our daily food. You can increase the spice level if you prefer.

OPOS cooking is a blessing for this generation and the generations to come. I really hope my cookbook will help those who want to try our everyday recipes without any hassle.

About the Author :

Brought up in Hodabatte, Kyasanooru seeme side of Havyaka family and married into a Kumble seeme Havyaka family helped me learn Havyaka dishes from both sides, which are very different from one and other.
